echtzeitEnsemble des STUDIOs NEUE MUSIK der HMDK Stuttgart
Originally founded as a student initiative as the Baikonur Ensemble and expanded in the following years to become the working ensemble of the composers’ workshops, the echtzeitEnsemble has been the Studio Neue Musik’s student house ensemble under the direction of Christof M Löser since it was founded in 2009.
The ensemble primarily realises new student compositions, ‘repertoire’ of the 20th and 21st centuries, often in collaboration with younger and renowned guest composers, as well as experimental, media, performative, installative and participatory music forms,
installative and participative music formats. In addition to the werk_statt_festivals held every semester, external performances have also taken place, including in the next-generation concerts of the Donaueschinger Musiktage from 2009 to 2017, in the Stihl Gallery, in Heidenheim, in the Staatsgalerie, in the Theaterhaus Stuttgart and in music theatre productions and, since 2016, in the context of the new state centre CAMPUS GEGENWART.
Around a core of particularly committed students, including those on the Master of New Music programme, a wide variety of formations are grouped together on a project basis, ranging from chamber music ensembles to large mixed ensembles involving media, space, objects, movement and the audience.
